Our company

  • We love what we do! We have been providing training since 2011 & really enjoy working with the research community.

  • We have a wealth of experience gained from providing professional development skills training to tens of thousands of participants, in addition to the knowledge gained from being researchers ourselves.

  • We are based in Edinburgh, the “Athens of the North”, and we now deliver training to clients worldwide, both in person and online.

Our approach

  • We aim to inspire, encourage, inform and motivate through training and by bringing people together to learn, share experiences, network and support each other.

  • With a range of over 25 training sessions designed for researchers that cover career planning, essential skills and writing and publishing, we can provide a valuable contribution to researcher training programmes.

  • We understand that people learn in different ways and in a variety of circumstances, so we use different methods of delivery for our sessions including in person training, live online sessions and self-paced online courses.

  • We also work with clients to develop bespoke courses to suit specific requirements.

Our clients

  • We work with over 100 universities all over the UK and worldwide delivering workshops, longer courses and on-demand courses both online and in person.

  • Our training sessions can be adapted for staff, PGR and PGT students in any subject area.

    • In addition, we have a growing number of individual researchers who access our on-demand self-paced courses and our live open courses.
Joanna was an excellent facilitator – the best online training session I have attended!

This is the best workshop I have ever been on! It was very interesting and I really enjoyed it!

It was excellent and I found it really useful. Excellent – 10 out of 10!

Highly recommend. This was a really useful course. Joanna was fantastic and had us really think about our future careers and how we would like to get there.

Joanna’s method and approach, as well as the sense of community that transpires Joanna’s courses, proves that a virtual platform can be used most effectively and to no lesser degree for the delivery of an interactive and inspiring workshop.

Because of her personal experience, the instructor was able to quickly engage with all participants and expertly moved through the schedule for the day.

Jo has delivered a wide range of researcher development sessions for our doctoral students at Bournemouth University. Her courses are always hugely popular and receive fantastic, positive feedback from participants. Jo makes her sessions really straightforward for us to co-ordinate, making the experience for PGRs attending really smooth. I can highly recommend Jo to other HEIs for researcher development programmes.
